Holy Scripture
We believe
the Bible to be the only inerrant, verbally inspired Word of God. We
further
believe that the Bible, contained in the Old and New Testaments, to be
the only
authoritative rule for faith and practice.
God
We believe
that there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son
(Jesus
Christ), and Holy Spirit. He is omnipotent, that is, He is
all-powerful. He is
omnipresent, that is, He is present throughout Creation but not limited
by it. He is
omniscient, that is, nothing is hidden from His sight. In all things He
is limited by
nothing other than His own nature and attributes. We believe the God we
serve is holy,
righteous, good, severe, just, full of mercy, and all together loving.
He is the Creator,
Sustainer, and Governor of everything that has been made.
The Person
and Work of the Lord Jesus Christ
We believe
in the true deity and full humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His
virgin
birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious atoning
death through His shed
blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand
of the Father and in
His personal return in power and glory. We believe that the
substitutionary sacrifice of
Christ on the cross is savingly efficient for all those who believe
Holy
Spirit
We believe
in the full deity of the Holy Spirit, acknowledging Him together with
the
Father and the Son as Creator and Redeemer. We believe that the Holy
Spirit baptizes
into the Body of Christ all those for whom Christ died once they have
placed faith in
Christ the Lord. We believe that the Holy Spirit empowers every
believer to obey God's
Word and sovereignly dispenses the gifts of the Spirit throughout the
Body of Christ for
the edification and maturing of the saints.
The Personality of Satan
We believe
a in personal being referred to in Scripture as Satan or the Devil. We
believe he is the prince of demons, the god of this age, the accuser of
the saints, and is
declared the adversary of God and man. We further believe that he is a
defeated enemy
to the children of God and that his fate is eternal damnation.
Salvation
We believe
that in Adam all mankind sinned and was thrust into rebellion against
God.
This rebellion is so complete that man neither wishes, desires, nor
seeks after God. We
believe that for the salvation of such lost and sinful men,
regeneration by the Holy Spirit
is absolutely necessary. Therefore, we believe that salvation is the
monergistic work of
God from start to finish. We believe that God is the initiator,
sustainer, and completer of
the salvation of all those who believe. We believe that this salvation
is made efficient by
grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
The
Church
We believe
that all who are genuinely united to Jesus Christ by grace through
faith are
members of the church which is the body of Christ. We believe that the
visible church
consists of both the regenerate and the unregenerate. We believe,
however, that the true
church consist of only those who are regenerate. We believe that it is
for the true church
that our Lord died and for whom He is going to return.
The
Second Coming of Jesus Christ
We believe
in the literal, physical, visible, bodily return of our Lord and Savior
Jesus
Christ. We believe at such time He will come in power and judgment. He
will judge all
men. Those who have placed faith in Him, He will receive into eternal
life. And those
who have not placed faith in Him shall be condemned unto eternal
damnation. We
believe that those who have died in faith shall be physically
resurrected and those who
are alive when Christ returns shall be caught up to meet Him in the
air.
The
Eternal State
We believe
that at death the souls of those who have trusted in the Lord Jesus
Christ for
salvation, pass immediately into His presence and there remain in
conscious bliss until
the resurrection of the body. We believe at the resurrection the soul
shall be reunited
with a glorified body which shall exist forever with Christ in glory.
The Responsibility of Believers
We believe
that all believers should seek to walk according to the Spirit,
separating
themselves from worldly practices, witnessing by life and word to the
truths of Holy
Scripture. We believe that the believer should be striving to live a
life pleasing to God,
holy, and acceptable to Him - bearing fruit in the performance of good
works.
Church
Sacraments
We believe
that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted the sacraments of baptism and the
Lord's
supper, both to be observed until His return.
Baptism. We believe that the sacrament of baptism is best applied
through immersion of
the believer in water as it sets forth the essential identification of
the believer with Christ
in His death, burial, and resurrection (Rom. 6:4; Acts 8:26-39).
Lord's Supper. We believe that the sacrament of the Lord's supper
commemorates our
Lord's sacrificial death and anticipates His soon return. We believe
that the bread and
the wine are symbolic of the body and blood of Christ and that every
Christian should
regularly eat at this table (Luke 22:17-20; 1Cor. 11:23-26).
